The internet gives you the ability to share your experiences with the world. This means you can do more than just tell your family and friends about a good, or bad, consumer experience. Since you want your review to help as many people as possible, you should carefully consider what you’re going to say in your write-up.
Today we’re going to talk about what kind of information you may, and may not, want to include in your online review. Remember, the people that see your review are often trying to make a decision on what company or business they should use. You can be most helpful by keeping your review informative and sticking to the facts.
Here are some helpful tips so you can make the most of your online review:
1. Be as accurate as possible in your description. You don’t need to write an essay, but you should provide as much accurate and relevant information as possible.
2. Give as much detail as you can. If you had a bad experience at a restaurant, tell people why it was negative, not just that you would never go back.
3. Avoid using names, including the names of staff members. If you need to reference someone, mention the title, such as “the manager” or “our cashier.”
4. Even if you have had a very negative experience, do not resort to cursing, name calling or other such behaviors.
5. Remember to be fair. If one aspect of your experience was bad but other aspects of your interaction were good, mention this as well.
6. Whenever possible, give the company the chance to make things right. If they do correct things, be sure to update your review.
Remember, companies are like people, they have good and bad days. Even a great company will have a few unhappy customers. So, keep it fair, use respectful language and aim to create a helpful review that informs and educates your family, friends and the online community.
