The New Year’s is well upon us and for most people, that means working to make good on New Year’s resolutions. If you’re career focused or an entrepreneur, you might want to add a few business resolutions to your list to make 2013 your best ever!

Here are some suggestions for business centered resolutions:

  1. Reorganize – If you found yourself all over the place in 2012, this is the time to get it together.  Set up few new files and start fresh for the year. You should look at organizing your contacts, your system for keeping receipts and bills and even how you schedule your day. Get a new day planner and start using it as a tool to do more with every single day!
  2. Dedicate yourself to Education – No matter what your field is, or your position in your current company, education helps! Learn more about your field and look for ways to apply your new knowledge. This is not only the best way to stand out in a sea of co-workers, it is the best way to gain an edge over your competitors if you’re in business for yourself.  Magazines, books, websites and classes are all great ways to improve your skills!
  3. Let it go – If you’ve had some failures in the past and struggled with gaining ground, let it go. Focusing on things you consider failures will cripple your advancement. Write down things you’ve been unhappy about and beside it, write down a single lesson you learned. You’ll see, every down fall has given you a lesson to apply towards a better future!
  4. Network – Make it a goal to mix it up this year. Meet new people and share your business and goals with them.  You don’t have to join a formal group, just get out there and meet people at expo’s, conventions and any event that has business owners and potential clients. Hand out your card, be friendly and talk with people about their business and your own!

There’s something special about the beginning of a new year to make some changes in your life. If you’re looking to have a better year, both in your career and your life, now is the time!
