Without a plan, most companies and marketers experience some innate “forces of disaster” working against them which lead to lackluster results if not complete failure.

One of these innate forces is what is often referred to as Marketing Myopia (Myopia is the condition more commonly known as short shortsightedness). Marketing Myopia basically refers to an organization’s natural tendency to market their products based on a very narrow and often internally focused point of view.

Another natural force of disaster for non-planners is Entropy – the universal tendency for things to naturally fall apart and head towards a random state. In marketing this is the equivalent of disaster. Every business has been there. We shoot from the hip, rely on gut instincts and put our best marketing efforts forward into motion.
