Throwback Thursday — Godzilla 1998

It is now the summer movie season, and with that comes the summer blockbusters! Even the worst movie can have excellent marketing, and that is definitely the case with 1998’s Godzilla remake. The film itself is regarded as a disappointment, but people were hyped to see it thanks to some terrific advertising.
Here is the teaser trailer below. I remember seeing this before The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997, a full year before Godzilla’s release. Getting audiences excited about a movie a full year before its debut is key to any marketing strategy, and this teaser trailer is a good example of why even underwhelming movies can leave great impressions in some way:
