On December 4, 1998, Universal released Gus Van Sant&#8217;s <em>Psycho<\/em> remake, starring Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore, Viggo Mortensen, William H. Macy, and Anne Heche. It was a nearly shot-for-shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock&#8217;s masterpiece, except set in the then-modern day and with more violence and sexual situations. The <em>Psycho<\/em> remake failed at the box office and critically, but its trailer does illustrate some interesting marketing touches. How do you market a movie that essentially many moviegoers had already seen?
